The Lundbeck Institute

In 1997, H. Lundbeck A/S made a serious commitment to help improve the quality of treatment for patients suffering from illnesses of the central nervous system (CNS). The Lundbeck Institute is an objective educational initiative of H. Lundbeck A/S.

The goals of the Institute are:

Consensus: To achieve consensus in an international forum on how to improve diagnosis, treatment and compliance in CNS disease.

Education: To develop practical and supportive educational elements for health care providers within CNS diseases.

Network: To build and maintain partnership and network with specialists within CNS disease. The Lundbeck Institute's activities are controlled by the Lundbeck International Neuroscience Foundation.

The Lundbeck International Neuroscience Foundation is a legal entity. Thus, the activities are fully dedicated to non-product related activities, and there will never be advertising in favour of drugs from any medical company. The Lundbeck International Neuroscience Foundation and the Lundbeck Institute observe the standards laid down by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education and will follow the European Accreditation Guidelines.

The Lundbeck International Neuroscience Foundation has a faculty of more than 90 highly respected psychiatrists, neurologists and GP's from all over the world. The Lundbeck Institute provides an international forum where:

New scientific issues and practical clinical experience are discussed and ideas exchanged.

Consensus in relation to improved care will be secured through the organisation of informal, interactive seminars in which participants include distinguished international experts.

Customised materials are distributed for local implementation.

At the outset, the focus of the Institute is on schizophrenia and mood disorders. Other psychiatric and neurological illnesses, such as anxiety and Parkinsonism will be added to its areas of study later. The Institute is supported by many of the major international psychiatric organizations including:

Collegium International Neuropsychopharmacologicum
